Carolina Mountford lived with eating disorders and other common co-morbidities such as depression for 15 years beginning in her early teens. She has now been free from eating disorders for over 20 years and is passionate about communicating a message of hope, to everyone suffering and those who are caring for someone with an eating disorder, that total freedom is possible. Carolina travels the UK delivering talks and workshops on various aspects of mental illness whilst raising awareness of and helping to end the stigma so often associated.

Carolina read psychology at Exeter University, has undertaken several counselling courses and has helped lead various eating disorder recovery programmes. Since 2020, Carolina has been a Beat Ambassador, the UK’s leading eating disorder charity.

Carolina is also a Mental Health First Aider, is trained in ASIST Suicide Prevention and a signee of the Mental Health Media Charter. Carolina keeps up to date with latest developments in the field through extensive research and regular Continued Professional Development (CPD) throughout the year. She also has an enhanced up-to-date DBS check, which is available to view on request.

OUTSIDE OF WORK

Having been brought up and worked in Europe and Latin America, Carolina now lives in London with her husband and two sons. She is an active member of her church and enjoys reading, running, knitting and eating (but not cooking!).
